Inspiration
14Feb10
There are times when I am in desperate need of inspiration and that is when I hurry to pick up a design book. Often that refreshes my mind but does not give me what I need to start sketching.
This weekend I went shopping and had no luck finding a pair of navy pants that fit. Although what I did find was my inspiration at the mall by looking at color trends, patterns, and storefronts. Oddly enough, my inspiration occurs when I am not trying to find it.

I love listening to movie soundtracks, especially those by James Horner or John Williams. They are a couple of the best. Otherwise I find inspiration in prayer and when I sit in absolute silence(meditation) and try to clear my mind things just come to me. Its fascinating. I also try to get in the moment when it comes o being around my daughters and nature. I also have a Journal that i received as a gift, a Life journey Journal, on the cover are some empowering, inspirational words, I just pick a power word and try to focus on what it means.
cmyfamily, i couldn’t agree more on the meditation, nature, and inspirational words! The power word is so effective – I recently discovered some power words in the most unlikely of places: inscribed on a bean, ready for planting and nurturing. In essence, I planted my “dream” and then as the bean plant grew, the inscription was still there! My toddler and I are wrapped in child-like enthusiasm… Here’s to being inspired…
I use meditation and connecting with nature as well. It is such a great way to clear your mind and recenter. I enjoy reading Daily OM or listening to a motivational youtube video.
I love walking the city. I live in New York. The architecture and en ergy really brings me to life. It make me want to thrive. Little things like fresh flowers picked from the street or the store brings happiness to my day. Also shopping at thrift shops to find unique, avant garde pieces.
